Monday Market Briefing - 3rd June 2024

French markets continue firm as their latest crop reports downgrade wheat ratings further, but UK has not followed suit this week ending slightly lower. LIFFE has held a £2-3 new crop premium over the MATIF quote for much of this year as befits an importing country, but we have opened a £10 discount in recent days which seems a bit odd. Possibly the large carry out from old crop is having a calming effect, regardless it’s hard to see us slipping further behind and with many forecasts for key areas not so far delivering all of the improved weather needed - expect markets to remain quietly supported this week.

This week sees the beginning of our grain breakfast season with the first event at Arundel on Tuesday morning, there’s lots to talk about and we hope to see you at one of these ever-popular events throughout June, you can book a seat at any of them by following the link on the website or calling the grain office on 01243 755650.

Have a good week
