Laboratory Assistant - Summer work

We have a summer opening to join us for this year's agricultural Harvest, the busiest period of our year (mid-July to September). Our farmers have finished growing their commercial cereal crops and have usually brought them in from the fields by this time, which means they are ready to be quality checked before they are sent into food production usually for making bread, breakfast cereals and beer brewing.

The role will be based in our TASCC registered laboratory at Chichester, the aim is to quality check samples of the grains and seeds collected from all the UK southern farms we work with. Checks include looking at moisture, weight and gluten content, bringing together this captured data so that it is ready for our trading teams to be able to start to buy, sell and arrange the export of commercial cereal crops.

The job is temporary for the summer, with possible extension into the Autumn months if the growing season is extended. There will be a small team of 3 or so summer workers working together in this role all supervised by our Laboratory Manager.

Full training will be provided, usual hours will be working Monday to Friday during our core hours between 8.30am to 5.30pm. There will be overtime available, some Saturday mornings during our busiest weekends in August and some earlier morning starts to be shared between everyone.
