Grain Marketing

Focussing on malting barley supply chain management, Bartholomews Grain Marketing Department attended the 2019 World Barley Malt & Beer Conference in Warsaw, Poland back in March.  With Brexit arrangements postponed until end Oct-19, we have created key marketing opportunities for malting barley growers on a tariff-free basis.  Using our trading relationships with EU maltsters, we believe that spring malting varieties will be well sought after by foreign buyers for Harvest 2019.

Bartholomews were also involved in a fact-finding mission, investigating alternative grain markets in China for malting barley and milling wheat.  China continues to experience increased consumption of finished products, including alcohol and bread/flour products.  Identifying a heavy surplus of EU grains in a given season, Asia is well placed to take any surpluses.
